If your license has become inactive in Missouri, if you have an active certification in another state, or if you are in a nursing program and have completed the fundamentals of nursing, the State of Missouri will allow you to challenge the Missouri CNA Examination. Call the Department of Health and Senior Services at (573) 526-5686 Monday through Friday during the hours of 9:00 am to 3:30 pm and obtain a Letter of Permission to challenge the examination. Once you've received your letter, call MEDS to schedule your examination.

Training Program. Participating in the CMT Training Program requires a high school diploma or GED.
Clinical on-the-job training hours are required for all classes. Clinical and class time will be scheduled concurrently. Clinical hours are times when the student will work in a skilled/intermediate care facility under the direct supervision of a State of Missouri-approved Clinical Supervisor. This time will be used to practice and demonstrate proficiency in the skills you must learn for certification.
For In-Person Training programs, after completing 16 hours of classroom theory, the nurse aide students will begin participating in 100 clinical hours. Students must participate in some day, evening, and weekend clinical hours to complete the state-mandated clinical hours within the class time frame. Fifty hours of the clinical are built-in on class days. Students may select 8-10 shifts from day, evening, and an occasional Saturday open clinical shift to complete the additional 50 hours. Clinical hours must be completed then in the time frame of the class to avoid additional fees for clinical extension time.
In-Person CNA Students, after completing 16 hours of classroom theory, students must also be available to participate in two to three-day, evening, and weekend clinical rotations PER WEEK.
In-person CMT students must participate in at least 8 clinical hours scheduled on class days.
Yes, each state has different requirements for transferring certifications. If you want to transfer your certification, call the State Board of Nursing for the preferred state for instructions from the State Board of Nursing.

No. CNAs or CMTs are not required to pass an entrance test. CMT students will take an 8th-grade level reading test on the first day of the CMT class. It is preferred that the student achieve a minimum score of 75% to ensure that the student can comprehend the material. This also gives the student an idea of their learning level so they can plan the necessary time to study for success.
CMT Students-State regulations have changed and no longer require students to pass 4 of the TABE Level D tests for eligibility.
